Many guests have stayed with us during the Green Seasons, and had a great time at Ancient Realm!
The Green Season is now from May 1st - Aug 31st in Ancient Realm! There are many bargains to be had!
The Green Season brings a warm and sunny climate, with only intermittent showers during the season!
Apart from a peak time of heavy rain and wind during September, most other months are very nice :-)
While this season is also known as the monsoon season, most people tend to think this mean heavy
rains all the time. However, monsoon actually refers to wind speed, not rainfall. Koh Lanta, year after
year, actually receives less median rainfall than either Krabi or Aonang, and also Phuket! When the
wind does pick up on some days for a few hours, most good resorts as standard procedure (Ancient
Realm included), will use a see-through wind blocking net or material (if beach front located); to keep
the wind at a minimum. This is not only to keep guests comfortable when sunbathing, eating or
relaxing...but also to protect the grass and trees in the resort gardens for this short time.
While some storms do arrive during these months (and also during the high season, too!), there is still
A LOT of sunshine, blue skies and great weather. The sky can actually be clearer and bluer during the
Green Season, as the mid afternoon showers on some days clear up the skies and cool down the
temperatures, making it less steamy and humid.

It is EXTREMELY RARE for it to rain more than three days non stop in a row....This happens only about
two or three times in the whole year (!) ....and normally only at the cusp of the seasons. Contrary to
popular belief, it rains only a few times every few weeks, and mainly in the afternoons or late at night.
You can still get 6-8 hours of sunbathing and swimming throughout most days during this season ;-)
There is one main advantage during the Green Season, which can be seen in it's name. GREEN.
Forests and trees regenerate, flowers bloom, tropical plants thrive and the island looks its absolute
best. Rivers and lakes are cleaned up, monkeys can be seen playing alongside of the road, the
waterfall on the south of the island turns from a trickle into a constant stream of falling water, and
Ancient Realm's gardens do not need constant weekly watering!
.....Yes, the weather is still "traveller friendly"! .....No, it most definitely does not rain all the time! ;-) .....
There is still a great time to be had on Koh Lanta. Ancient Realm remains completely and fully
operational, with our fully staffed team standing by everyday, with all facilities and amenities running.
Our spa is open, our water activities are provided, our restaurant is catering for the resort, the bar is
pumping tunes throughout the day and night, and our reception and tour office is open to show you
the available activities during the Green Season. OUR ROOMS ARE ALSO CHEAPER, LOL! ;-)
While there are a few less tour companies in operation, all of the activities on our "Islands & Tours"
pages (which can be found through a link button on the right) are available, and can be arranged by
our friendly staff.
.....Diving, snorkelling, swimming, kayaking and other water sports are all available in the Green Season!!
One more thing. Less tourists = less traffic on the roads! Hire an auto scooter from our lovely girls in
reception, and enjoy the winding roads along the bays and beaches! This is one of the most
memorable experiences that all of our guests have. Helmets are provided, free of charge ;-)
Ancient Realm always has many guests staying with us during the Green Season.....For 3 years running
now we have been running at ~70% occupancy during these months. You will never feel lonely! There
is always someone in the 360 Bar ready to have a cocktail or drink, our pool table is always the centre
of attention, and there are many guests looking for other travellers to join them island hopping!
.....For some travellers, peace and quiet can be at it's best! .....For others, a late night can be had also!
